Mountain Bikes
A Mountain Bike or Mountain Bicycle (abbreviated MTB or ATB (all terrain bicycle)) is a bicycle designed for mountain biking, either on dirt trails or other unpaved environments. In contrast, road bicycles are not designed for such rugged terrain.
Mountain Bike have wide, knobby tyres for extra traction and shock absorption. In recent years, front wheel suspension has become the norm and full front and rear suspension is becoming increasingly common. Some Mountain Bike are also fitted with bar ends on the handlebars, but with the increase in popularity of riser handlebars (as opposed to a flat straight handlebar) fewer riders use bar end extensions. The Bikes normally have 26 in (559 mm) wheels, but since 2002 some models have been available with 29 in (622 mm) wheels, which is the same diameter most commonly used for road bikes (also known as 700c). Some Dirt Jumping Bikes also have 24in wheels.(The name given to a rim diameter in inches is different from the rim's actual size.)
Road Competition Bikes
Racing/Road Bikes racing is a popular bicycle racing sport held on roads (following the geography of the area), using Racing/Road Bikes. The term 'road racing' is usually applied to events where competing riders start simultaneously (unless riding a handicap event) with the winner being the first at the end of the course (individual and team time trials are another form of cycle racing on roads).
Racing/Road Bikes is popular all over the world, but especially in Europe. The most competitive and devoted countries are Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland, although the sport is popular also in Australia, Russia, and the United States.
Racing/Road Bikes began as an organized sport in 1868.[1] The first world championship was in 1893 and cycling has been part of the Olympic Games since the modern sequence started in Athens in 1896.
Touring Bike
A Touring Bicycle is a bicycle either specially designed for, or modified to handle bicycle touring. What makes a touring bike different from other bicycles is its superior ability to carry gear on racks mounted to the front and rear of the bicycle frame. Other commonly found differences are a longer wheel base with sturdier wheels for carrying more weight, mudguard/fender mounting points, triple water bottle mounts and a frameset that allows for wider tires.
Folding Bikes
A folding bicycle or folder is a type of bicycle that incorporates a number of hinges or joints, which may be lockable, that permit it to be folded into a more compact size. Typically this works by folding one or more of the bicycle's components, most often the frame.
Their major advantage is that they can be folded up and taken on public transport and into buildings where conventional bicycles cannot. Thus, for mixed-mode commuting they need not be chained in the street or station. Folding also makes transporting a bicycle in an automobile easier.
